What is a birth plan?
A birth plan is a document in which you and your partner describe your wishes regarding the delivery, the birth and the first moments with the baby. Sounds important. And honestly: it is.

A birth plan is:

• a (clear) document with your most important 'birth wishes' in it. In your birth plan you bundle everything that you and your partner (presumably) find nice and important (would) during labor, delivery and the hours afterwards.
• a thought process. Because: before you can write them down, you have to find out, those birth wishes. Together with your (birth) partner, you will find out in this workbook what you really find important.
• an incredibly useful means of communication. Thanks to those few sentences, the midwives and doctors get to know you so much better - with one look at your birth plan. Very nice, because: they can take even better care of you.
• a foothold, even in an unpredictable situation.
